Know your origins
Local families collaborate with finnish forestry professionals to ensure the sustainable growth and use of their forests. Kuura combines innovations, responsibility and generations of finnish forestry and pulp production know-how.
Our forests
Forests are an important natural resource for Finns that have generated prosperity for society for centuries. Family ownership is a typical and unique feature of forest management in Finland. The wood used in the production of Kuura is sourced from the forests surrounding the Metsä Group bioproduct mill in Äänekoski, Finland. The owner-members behind Metsä Group bring continuity and a long-term perspective to our operations.
Forest owners
Markku Paananen
“I’m proud to be part of this purposeful role as a forest owner – substituting fossil raw materials with renewable and recyclable wood”
Anu Vanhala
“One day these forests will be handed down to my daughters. They can tend the seedling stands, utilize them in some wood products in the future, and make room for new, carbon-storing growth.”
Heikki Kinnunen
“It’s rewarding to see how fast well managed forests regrow – and how healthy the forests are as a result.”
Marja-Liisa Riipinen
“A forest is a stable asset that keeps its value, generating greater return the more you look after it. It’s another good reason to take care of them wisely.”
